August 9, Visit to Wilson’s Creek National Battelfield

Vicki was feeling better today.  We were able to continue with our plans to visit the Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, the site of the first major Civil War battle west of the Mississippi.

Here are some of the pictures we took while there.

Old style fence northeast of the main battle site

Ray house, the only remaining structure that was standing at the time of the battle. It was used as a hospital immediately after the battle.

View from the porch of the Ray house

The actual bed in which General Lyon was laid out in after his death in the battle.
